Margao, Sep 10 (UNI) Bungo Singh's 73rd minute goal allowed Salgaocar sports club to edge out a strong Ruia Sporting 1-0 and register their second win in row in the GFA Vodafone Professional football league championship match at the Nehru stadium, Fatorda.
With this win, Salgaocar took their tally to six points. Ruia sporting too are on six points from three outings with two wins and a defeat.
The match did not rise upto the expections as the ground was rendered slippery due to rain.
In another match played at Tilak Ground, Vasco, Sporting club de Goa defeated Vasco Sports Club by 2-1.
Sporting surged ahead in the 32nd minute through Joseph Pereira off a fine pass received from Stevan Feranandes and soon increased their lead through Bishvashwar Singh. It was a fine combined moved intitiated by Joseph Pereira and pass to Wilton Gomes, who in quick sucession switched on the ball to better placed Bishveshwar, who scored the second goal for his side to make it 2-0 at half time.
Vasco sports club managed to reduced the margin in the injury minute of the second half through Minino Fernandes, off penalty awarded to them by the refree, when Sporting Stevan Fernandes brought down Vasco's Agnelo Colaco in the danger zone. Minino converted the spot kick correctly to make it 2-1.
Durand Cup runners up Churchill Brothers trounced new entrants Sesa Football Academy 3-0 in the third match of the day, played at Calangute ground in North Goa.
