RJP activists burn Nitish effigy blaming him for Bihar havoc
New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Rashtravadi Janata Party (RJP) activists today staged a demonstration before Parliament and burnt an effigy of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for his government's inability to prevent the Kosi dam breach and for endangering the lives of lakhs of people.
A team of RJP members, led by party's National President Anil Bharati, later called on the Prime Minister and handed over a memorandum, demanding urgent relief and rehabilitaiton measures, a party spokesman said.
In a statement, Mr Bharati said that Bihar, which is already poor, has been pushed a century behind due to the devastation caused by the floods and negligence of the Bihar Government.
''Had the Government carried out a check and strengthened the embankments on time, the damage could have been checked. The Bihar government was duty bound to ensure that the large quantity of water did not overflow and create havoc for the 32 lakh people in 18 districts of the state,'' he said.
