MCD to implement sixth pay commn recommendations from Sep 1
New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) The Municipal Corporation of Delhi will implement recommendations of the sixth Pay Commission for its officers and employees from September 1 as per the August 29 notification by the Union Ministry of Finance, Chairman of the MCD Standing Commission Vijender Gupta said today.
Addressing reporters here, Mr Gupta said it is for the first time in the history of the civic body that Pay Commission's recommendations are being implemented at par with the Central Government Employees.
''Perhaps, the MCD would be the first local body in the country to implement recommendations of 6th Pay Commission at par with Central Government Employees,''he said.
The Chairman informed that arrears of the sixth Pay Commission will be paid in two installments - while the first installment will be restricted to 40 per cent of the aggregate arrears, orders with regard to the payment of the second installment will be issued during the next financial year.
He said in terms of financial implications involved in implementation or recommendations regarding scales of pay, HRA, TA, DA and NPA, the arrears from January 1, 2006 to August 31 this year will be Rs 1,009.34 crore while the increase from September 1 per month will be Rs 68.12 crore.
Mr Gupta further informed that municipal pensioners will also be paid increased amount of pensions as per recommendations from September 1.
