Kullu Shawl's traders asked to get registered with KWSA
Shimla, Sep 10 (UNI) To check the sale of fake Kullu shawls, Shimla Deputy Commissioner directed the weavers, shopkeepers and producers of Kullu Shawls to get themselves registered with Kullu Shawl Weavers Association (KWSA).
DC JS Rana said that number of traders in the town are selling Kullu Shawls, which has been registered under Geographical Indications (GI) Act, 1999, by different trade marks.
He said that unauthorised shopkeepers or unregistered producers are not entitled to use the sign boards or hoardings of Kullu Shawls.
The sellers or producers of fake Kullu Shawls are liable for a penal action under which a fine of Rs 50,000 to two lakh or imprisonment of six months to three years or both could be awarded, he added.
