Coochbehar, Sep 10 (UNI) A Kamtapur Liberation Organisation (KLO) rebel was arrested from Laukuthi village under Bakshirhat police station last night, police today informed.
The militant, identified as Romanath Roy (25), was a resident of Chhotoguma in Konkrajhar district in Assam who received training at a KLO training camp at Chattagram in Bangladesh under ninth batch, police said adding a six-chamber revolver and three rounds of bullets were also recovered.
He was produced today at Toofanganj Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate Court, where he was remanded into the custody of police for eight days.
SP(Coochbehar) Debendra Prakash Singh said preliminary investigations revealed that Roy came to recruit hands and informers for the KLO, adding Jalpaiguri DIG Zulfiquar Hussain was present during the inquiry.
The KLO cadre only had a Class Eight education, he added.
Mr Singh estimated that the KLO camps had been shifted to Bangladesh by the ultras in the wake of Operation Flush-Out in Bhutan, where the rebels use to set up their encampments.
