Karunakaran shifted back to ICU, condition stable
Chennai, Sep 10 (UNI) Veteran Congress leader and former Kerala Chief Minister K Karunakaran, undergoing treatment at the Christian Medical College (CMC) Hospital in Vellore, has been shifted back to Intensive Care Unit (ICU), but his condition is stable.
The 91-year-old leader, who was admitted to the ICU on September one for treatment of sub-dural haematoma, which involved bleeding in the cranial cavity, was shifted to a private ward, the next day, only to be shifted again back to the ICU late on Sunday night, hospital sources said.
Dr Mathew Alexander said Mr Karunakaran was shifted back to the ICU for treatment for bronco pneumonia, involving lung infection and he was responding to the treatment. His condition was stable and the Hospital would come out with a bulletin in the evening, he said.
His condition has improved over the last 48 hours and is being observed on a day-to-day basis, Dr Alexander said.
