Independent MLAs should not be given any post: DMK
Puducherry, Sep 10 (UNI) The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, which is supporting the Congress government in Puducherry today urged the administration not to provide the post of Chairman of Government Corporations to any of the independent legislators.
In a resolution adopted at the executive committee meeting here, the party was of the view that as the independents had contested against the UPA candidates in the last assembly elections and defeated them, no posts should be given to them.
Another resolution urged the administration that all the government schemes in future should be implemented in all the four regions to ensure equal development.
Resolutions urging the administration to declare September 15 a public holiday on account of the birth anniversary of Anna, to name the entry arch at Gorimedu after him, implement new schemes in future after him, take steps to withdraw all election related cases, implemnent the sixth pay commission recommendations, regularise service of the daily rated and part time workers of the administration, continue the educational assistance scheme under CENTAC and to implement the interim relief announced to the textile workers were also adopted.
The meeting resolved to celebrate the birth centenery of Annadurai in a fitting manner throughout the year.
