Guj CM briefed on freight corridor between Delhi-Mumbai
Gandhinagar, Sep 10 (UNI) Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Managing Director V K Kaul made a presentation before Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on the strategy and potential of the Dedicated Freight Corridor in general and that of Gujarat in particular.
A state government release said the Government of India, in Association with the government of Japan has proposed setting up of a dedicated freight corridor between Delhi and Mumbai.
The corridor will run almost parallel to the present railway track with computerized control. Almost 38 per cent of the corridor falls in Gujarat. The estimated expenditure on the corridore will be Rs 9,000 crore.
The first phase of the corridor is expected to be implemented between Delhi and Vadodara. In the first phase, the corridor will provide connectivity through the Gujarat ports.
The communique says that the imported goods from the Gujarat ports will also be sent more efficiently to the northern Indian hinterland through the corridor.
