Beijing achievement will boost Indian sports: Bindra

By Staff

New Delhi, Sep 10 (UNI) Shooter Abhinav Bindra, the country's first individual gold medalist, today said the medals won by Indians in Beijing will increase the thirst to win among the players.

Bindra, who was here to flag-off Hyundai's i10 car Delhi to Paris drive, told UNI that ''I think the medals won by the Indians in Beijing will boost the players.'' The 25-year-old shooter is satisfied with his performance and has immense faith in Indian sports talent and believes that India can win 10 medals in the next Olympics.

''I am happy with my performance and I see India winning more medals at the next Olympic meet,'' he said.

Bindra added that his gold medal would inspire India's sports authorities to work harder.

''I am sure the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and Sports Authority of India (SaI) can give a lot more for the Indian sports.

And I hope that this gold medal will inspire them to work harder as well, so that not just one, but we come back with maybe 15 medals,'' added Bindra.

Hyundai Motors India Ltd has also decided to present him their best selling I10 car.

''Abhinav Bindra has done the country proud by winnig the gold medal at Beijing and so has the i10 which is the most sucessful rollout form the company's stable. It is our effort to bring both of them together,'' said HMIL, Senior VP, Arvind Saxena.
