Australian cricket bracing up for rising sons

Melbourne, Sep 10 (UNI) The Boon's, the Marsh's and the McDermott's will be again seen in action with a host of second generation Australian cricketers converging at the U-18 talent camp to be held at Brisbane next month.

Jack Boon, like his father, former opener David Boon is predominantly a batsman while Alister McDermott will also be in the mix and when he begins his rather long run up, many would strain their eyes to find out similarities, if any, with his father Craig.

Mitchell Marsh, son of another former opener Geoff Marsh and brother of Indianj Premier League sensation Shaun Marsh will also join the camp hoping to do justice to his surname.

Three time world cup winning Australian Team coach John Buchanan's son Nicholas Buchanan will also compete in the training camp and will try to impress the best coaches around.

All products of different centres of excellence across the country, 38 greenhorns will undergo specialist coaching sessions besides extensive sports science testing at the camp.

Cricket Australia General Manager of Operations Michael Brown said the camp would provide the youngsters a golden opportunity to work with some of the best coaches around.

''The CA COE has first-class facilities and I'm sure each of the selected youngsters from around the country will be looking forward to the experience that will hold them in good stead for seasons to come,'' he said.
