Amitabh Bachchan's latest film 'The Last Lear' premier was shelved at the last minute in Mumbai on Wednesday, Sep 10. The premier was scheduled on Thursday, Sep 11.

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray rejected Jaya Bachchan's apology for her anti-marathi remarks and asked her to apologise in front of the cameras. MNS had promised to disrupt all Bachchans' family movies and banned all ads. Abhishek Bachchan's posters were torn by Raj Thackeray's supporters through out Mumbai. Jaya said that comments made by her were completely unintentional and that no one should take them seriously.

Just a day before, Amitabh Bachchan in his blog defnded his wife, Jaya Bachchan's remarks telling that it was a 'casual off-the-cuff remark'. He went on to explain his loyalty to Maharashtra and Mumbai. "Mumbai and Maharashtra has given us glory and recognition. I am 66 years old and 40 of those years have been spent living in Mumbai. Is it ever possible that we will dishonour it? Never!" the actor wrote.
