Absconder JMM legislator punctual in attending House session
Bokaro, Sep 10 (UNI) A Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MLA who has been attending Assembly sessions for the past past three years is an ''absconder'' in a more than two-decade old murder case lodged in this district.
The lawmaker in question despite repeated summons failed to be produced prompting the Court to declare him a ''permanant absconder.'' According to police records, Jagganath Mahto, legislator from Dumri Assembly seat, was an accused in a muder case lodged in Chandrapura police station in 1985.
The additional and district session judge (fast track court one) M C Verma following series of hearing had issued permanent warrant against Mahto in 2003 as the accused did not appear for even once.
Similarly, in a different case Mahto was declared as absconder by Tenughat court and another warrant was issued against him.
Significantly, Mahto was elected as MLA in 2005.
On July 20 last, the District Judge ordered Superintendent of Police Priya Dubey to look into the matter and arrest the ''absconding'' MLA.
Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police B B Pradhan said a show cause notice would be sent to the SP concerned in this regard.
