New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) Welcoming the Nuclear Suppliers Group's waiver for the Indo-US Nuclear deal, the European Union today said it will help create conditions for working with India on the remaining nuclear issues.
''There are a lot of possibilities of cooperation with India in the nuclear field', European Commission Director General for Energy and Transport Matthias Ruete told reporters here.
''The European Commission has to consult its member States on all these issues,'' Mr Ruete said, adding that after their views are taken, the EU will firm up its official position in the next few weeks.
Addressing an interactive session organised by FICCI here, he said the EU has set a target of reducing its energy consumption by 20 per cent by 2020 in which India can play a major role.
Mr Reute said India can be a world leader for developing energy efficient technology.
To achieve the target, he said a lot of different areas such as lighting, transport and houses will have to be looked at.
