Vohra inspects Baghliar project in Ramban
Jammu, Sep 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra today reviewed the pace of progress on the 450-MW Baglihar Hydro Electric Project, which is in advance stage of completion in Ramban district, official sources here said.
Mr Vohra discussed the laying of 400 KV transmission line from Baghliar to Kishenpur and asked the officials to expedite the pace on ancillary works to meet the deadline for starting the first unit of this prestigious project considered to be vital for providing both energy and financial relief to the state.
However, the Managing Director of the State Power Development Corporation, Shantmanu, briefed the Governor that the annual generation from the project will be about 2800 million units for 90 per cent dependable year and the project is estimated to cost Rs 5200 crore.
Taken up in 1999 over river Chenab, the project comprised 143 meters of high Concrete Gravity Dam with 353 meters top length.
After the power generation commences, water would be led back to river Chenab through draft tubes, collection gallery and 130 meter long Trail Race Tunnel.
