Ban on Sumi Hoho unfortunate: Rio
Kohima, Sep 9: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Tuesday, Sep 9 termed the ban imposed on Sumi Hoho and Western Sumi Hoho by NSCN(IM) unfortunate and a violation of Cease-Fire Ground Rules (CFGR).
Replying to a question of Congress member K V Pusa during the Assembly session which began here this morning, Mr Rio said the underground factions had agreed upon CFGR with the Centre during the cease-fire agreement and the ban would violate the norms of agreement He also informed the House that the matter was discussed in the meeting with Cease-Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG).
Mr Rio further informed the House that the government is considering to recognize various tribal hohos and NGOs of the state by amending the Village area council act, as they were working for the welfare of people.
Earlier, replying to the same question, Home Minister Imkong L Imchen rejected allegation of the opposition that the government has recorded the report of ban on Sumi hohos from newspapers.
