Regional office of ICCR at Guwahati
Guwahati, Sep 9 (UNI) The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) is all set to open its regional office in Assam, an official statement issued said here today.
External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee gave this information to Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in a letter, the statement added.
In the letter, Mr Mukherjee said as per the proposal made by the Chief Minister in August, the Council decided to open its regional office at the Assam Pavilion at Silpagram, with a plan to inaugurate it in December.
In this connection ICCR president Dr Karan Singh will visit Guwahati soon.
He further said the collaboration between the ICCR and the Assam government will provide a fresh impetus to cultural and educational activities in the region, besides being a catalyst for enhanced cultural interaction between the state and the rest of the country.
