Patna, Sep9(UNI)Union Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan today demanded a high level inquiry into the causes leading to breach in Kushaha embankment of the Kosi river setting off a catastrohic flood in north Bihar.
''Truth must prevail and only a high level inquiry could make it clear who were responsible for the colossal loss of human lives and property'',Mr Paswan told newsmen here today.
Asked to name the agency to carry out the investigation, the Lok Jansakti Party (LJP) Chief said it was the responsibility of the Nitish Kumar government to come out with the proposal.
Referring to the recent statement of JD(U) president Sharad Yadav who had blamed the union ministers for allegedly politicising the Bihar flood,Mr Paswan said he did not express similar views as Mr Yadav.
The union Steel and Fertiliser minister, however, severely criticised the state government for the alleged ''improper distribution'' of relief among flood victims and said despite sufficient foodgrains released by the Centre, they were not reaching the marooned people.
