New Delhi, Sep 9 (UNI) A memorable US Open, this year, helped Leander Paes climb eight places to the eighth spot in the men's doubles rankings of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) charts released today.
Paes and his Zimbabwean partner Cara Black won the mixed doubles title, while in the men's doubles event he finished runners-up with his Czech partner Lukas Dlouhy.
Mahesh Bhupathi also gained a place and was at the 11th spot.
Bhupathi and his Bahamian partner Mark Knowles lost in the pre-quarter finals in the doubles event at the US Open.
Among other Indians, Prakash Amritraj lost three places and was at 220th, while left-handed Somdev Devvarman was at the 244th place.
Meanwhile, in the singles rankings, Spaniard Rafael Nadal despite losing to Briton Andy Murray in the semi-finals was at the pole position followed by Roger Federer and Serbian Novak Djokovic.
