Junior paddlers gear up for CYG at Junior Table Tennis Tourney

Pune, Sep 9 (UNI) Indian junior paddlers will get an opportunity to get acclamatised for the 2008 Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG), barely a month away, when the 15,000 dollar prize money International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) World Junior Circuit Table Tennis Tournament kicks off at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports City complex in Balewadi, near here, from September 11 to 14.

In the absence of numero uno China, the defending champions Japan, who were the winners of the last meet held in Goa in 2007, will start as the firm favourites among the 15 countries, including India, who have confirmed their entries in the four-day championship.

Indian Olympic Association (IOA) President and 2008 CYG Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi will inaugurate the championship, while noted industrialist Niraj Bajaj will be the guest of honour on the occasion.
