Hooda concerned over female foeticide
Chandigarh, Sep 9 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today expressed his serious concern over the menace of female foeticide and urged the medical fraternity to boycott those doctors who indulge in evil practice of female foeticide.
The Chief Minister was speaking at the annual day celebrations of the Government Medical College and Hospital, here today.
He said that in case social evils like female foeticide were not checked in time, these could lead to serious consequences. ''It is the duty of the medical fraternity to create an awakening among the masses to check female foeticide.'' The Haryana government, he said, had implemented a number of schemes for empowerment of women and to check the declining sex ratio.
Mr Hooda stressed the need for providing improved health services in rural areas and urged the medical students to pledge that they would serve in rural areas on priority basis. He also emphasised the need for paying more attention to resolve the issue of allegations of negligence which were, at times, levelled against doctors by patients or their relations for being under immense emotional and physical stress.
