Hooda assures co-operation in Wage Board implementation

Chandigarh, Sep 9 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda today assured full co-operation of the state government for the implementation of recommendations of the Wage Board for the journalists and other newspapers employees.

The Chief Minister gave this assurance when Mr K M Sahni, Member Secretary of the National Wage Board constituted under the Working Journalists and other Newspapers Employees (Conditions of Service) Act, 1955, called on him.

Mr Sahni also met the Chief Secretary and Labour and Employment Minister to apprise them about the role and functions of the Board and solicited their views.

During the course of interaction with the Chief Minister, Labour and Employment Minister and the Chief Secretary, Mr Sahni stressed the need to sensitise the journalists and managements about the provisions of Working Journalists and other Newspapers Employees (Conditions of Service) Act, 1955 as well as the role assigned to the Board.

He said that seminars should be conducted at different places in the state for this purpose.

He said there was a need to constitute a tripartite monitoring committee having representatives from employers, employees and independent members along with government functionaries for the smooth functioning of working journalists.
