Forbes Lifetime achievement award to Lakshmi Mittal
Singapore, Sep 9: India-born Steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal bags Forbes Lifetime Achievement Award. This award honours heroes of entrepreneurial capitalism and free enterprise. Mittal said that he is still young and is fit to continue his sprawling business across the world after receiving the award. Mittal said, "It hasn't escaped my notice that this award is a lifetime achievement award. But just to let you know that I haven't finished yet.. I'm still pretty young and a fit person." The Forbes award was presented by publishing tycoon Steve Forbes on Monday, Sep 8 at the Global CEO Forum which is being held 8-10 September in Singapore.
Lakshmi Mittal, born in Rajasthan in India, founded Mittal Steel Company (formerly LNM Group) in 1976. Mittal Steel Company later acquired numerous steel companies around the world, including the International Steel Group in the US, to become the world's largest steel producer following merger with Arcelor in 2006 (ArcelorMittal).
