Jammu, Sep 9 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation today produced a challan against police and the judicial officials for accepting bribe from the complainant to close a subjudice case against him, official sources here said.
''Challan produced against the selection grade constable (SgCt) namely Bishan Dass, who was then posted at Naib Court, Tehsil Office Jammu and Mr Kuber Singh, the then Judicial Clerk, also posted at Tehsil Office Jammu in the court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Jammu,'' an official spokesman told UNI.
The SgCt and the judicial clerk were caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 on September 23, 2005.
''The complainant namely Bua Ditta, resident of Rajpura Mandi, Panchyat Panjore, in a written statement to the Police Station Vigilance Organsiation Jammu on September 23, 2005 has alleged that Mr Dass, (SgCt) demanded illegal gratification for closure of subjudice case pending against him and his relatives in the court of Naib Tehsildar, Jammu under section 107/117 CrPC,'' official sources said.
A case was registered under sections 5(2) PCR/W 161 RPC against FIR No12/2005 at Police Station Vigilance Organisation Jammu (VOJ).
''During the course of investigations, the Vigilance officials laid a trap at Tehsil Office Jammu as the accused demanded bribe of Rs 2,000 from the complainant and asked him to handover the same to his colleague Mr Kuber Singh, the then Judicial Clerk, posted at Tehsil Office,'' sources maintained.
Meanwhile, the Vigilance officials caught the judicial official and the selection grade constable red-handed while accepting a bribe from the complainant and the tainted money was recovered from the possession of the Judicial Clerk.
