Jaunpur/Lucknow, Sep 9 (UNI) About thousand's of BJP workers, including Uttar Pradesh BJP president Ramapati Tripathi and Vidhan Parishad member Ramji Singh, were arrested in Jaunpur district today while they were heading towards Azamgarh district.
District administration, along with the police, waylaid the BJP leaders as soon as they reached J-seej circle after which the partymen sat on a dharna and blocked the road for nearly two hours.
Later, the police arrested them.
While addressing his people during the demonstration, Mr Tripathi said law and order no longer existed in the state and the BSP government and other political parties were supporting terrorism.
He further said people were being barred from their democratic rights and the BJP would not tolerate the ''dual games'' of the government.
The BJP would continue its agitation against the wrong deeds of the BSP government, he underlined.
Meanwhile, in the state capital, former BJP MP and Bihar incharge Kalraj Mishr, Vidhanmandal Dal leader Om Prakash Singh and former minister Lalji Tondon condemned the arrest of the BJP leaders and termed it as ''adminsitrative terrorism.'' The BJP leaders were going to Azamgarh to take stock of the situation after the Sunday violence, in which a man was killed and three were wounded after miscreants resorted to brickbatting on the BJP MP Yogi Adityanath cavalcade.
