Baton Relay of CYG reaches Raigad

Raigad, Sep 9 (UNI) The Youth Baton Relay (YBR) of third Commonwealth Youth Games (CYG) 2008, Pune, that became the cynosure of all eyes wherever it passed through, today reached Raigad Fort, the seat of Shivaji Maharaj's Maratha kingdom.

After traversing through six states and travelling through cities and villages enroute overcoming rains and difficult terrain for the past 40 days, the Baton Relay has reached the Raigad fort via ropeway.

The convoy of 21 vehicles, carrying mediapersons and support staff, will be having a night halt at Mahad town.

The YBR will pay homage to the Samadhi of Chhatarapti Shivaji Maharaj and his mother Jijamata on Wednesday before sunrise.

The relay will then commence their run from Chavdar Tale in Mahad and will proceed towards Dapoli.
