Chennai, Sep 9 (UNI) The Australian government's decision not to supply Uranium to non-NPT countries was not aimed against India, its Minister for Foreign Affairs Stephen Smith said today.
Speaking at an event co-presented by Australian High Commission and the CII here, he said 'We are not singling out India on the issue. The decision is not aimed at India either'', he added.
The Australian Government's policy of not to export uranium to non-NPT countries was well known and it remains the same.
''There is no change in it. So Australia's decision not to supply Uranium is not aimed at India'', he reiterated.
He said Australia's relations with India would remain unaffected in the wake of the Nuclear Suppliers Group's (NSG) waiver for India and Australia's decision of not to export Uranium.
''The position remains unaffected by the NSG decision'', he said and added that this also does not disturb Australia's ongoing approach to consider on a case-by-case basis applications for the export of dual-use items pertaining to non-nuclear industries.
