5 mini hydel projects to come up in Ludhiana district
Chandigarh, Sep 9 (UNI) Environment and Non Conventional Energy Resources Minister Bikram Singh Majitiha would lay the foundation stone of five mini hydel projects to be constructed on Abohar Branch Canal on September 12 at Khanpur in Ludhiana.
The five projects would be constructed at Khanpur, Sidhar, Akhara, Gholian and Channowal with combined generation capacity of 5.3 MW power, an official spokesman said.
With the construction of these five mini hydel projects, total 65 MW power would be generated by mini hydel projects in the state.
Presently 30 MW power is being produced by mini hydel projects and construction of various mini hydel projects with total installed capacity of 35 MW is under various stages of construction.
