Women organisations protest minor's rape

Madikeri, Karnataka, Sep 8 (UNI) Stree Shakti and other women organisations today held a protest against the rape of a minor girl at Napoklu near Madikeri.

The protestors took out a procession on the main street of Napoklu and demanded action against the accused.

An old man, Hassainar alias Acchavu, molested the minor girl at Napoklu last week and was later arrested.

His relatives attacked the parents of the girl at Madikeri, trying to force them to take back the complaint as they were taking the girl for medical-examination.

However, a group of people thrashed the relatives attacking the couple and handed them over to police.

The protestors alleged the relatives were neither arrested nor a case registered against them. They claimed the minor girl was mentally unsound after the incident and demanded compensation and protection.
