Two killed as aircraft crashes atop house in AP
Hyderabad, Sep 8 (UNI) A Flying Instructor and a trainee pilot were killed and three injured, including one woman seriously, when an aircraft crashed on a house after hitting an electric post in the thickly-populated Fatehnagar area of the city today.
The Cessna 152 aircraft of the Andhra Pradesh Flying Club, which took off from Begumpet airstrip at about 1100 hrs pulled down power cables before crash landing, killing the trainee pilot, hailing from Sainkpuri area in the city, on the spot, while the instructor Neeraj Jain, hailing from New Delhi, succumbed to injuries before reaching the Gandhi Medical College hopital, police said.
A major fire was averted when the residents put out the blaze in time which engulfed a Ganesh pandal also.
Doctors at the hospital conducted postmortem on the bodies of the duo.
The aircraft, which crashed amid houses, caused panic in the densly-populated area.
Police said the aircraft caught fire soon after it crashed with a huge sound, creating panic among people, who ran helter skelter, before a police party rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
