New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notices to the Punjab government and advocate H S Phoolka on a petiton filed by Member of Lok Sabha and former union minister Jagdish Tytler, seeking transfer of a criminal case pending against him in a Ludhiana court to Delhi.

A bench comprisiing Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan, Justices P Sathasivam and J M Panchal issued the notices after hearing senior counsel Harsh Salve appearing for Mr Tytler, who contended that the atmosphere in the Ludhiana Court will not be conducive for a free and fair trial as the name of the Congress MP is also involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.

A complaint was filed by Mr Phulka against Mr Tytler for making some anti-Sikh statements.

Mr Tytler is also facing allegations of inciting mobs in Delhi against the Sikh community during roits following the assassination of former prime minister Indira Gandhi on October 31, 1984.
