RIMS Director refutes charges of mismanagement of Institute
Imphal, Sep 8 (UNI) The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) today refuted allegations of Director of the institue Prof L Fimate being involved in mismanagement.
RIMS media advisor L Iboyaima said the allegations that the Director had admitted his daughter, Dr Olivia, in the post graduate course and that from contract basis to regularised appointment in the RIMS through unfair means were baseless.
''Dr Olivia was a nominee of the Mizoram government for the PG studies. She was never appointed on contract basis nor was she appointed as a regular employee in RIMS. She was merely engaged as a substitute for a few months in lieu of a doctor who is on study leave,'' the media advisor said.
With regard to downgrading of some posts in RIMS, he said no suitable qualified candidate was available for the posts.
Consequently, the Executive Council, which is the decision making body of RIMS, had decided to constitute lower level posts where a junior grade level doctor could occupy temporarily till such a time when some doctors could occupy the post on regular promotion.
''The decision to utilise their services or downgrade them was taken by the EC and the Director had nothing to do with these decisions,'' he added.
