New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) The Lok Sabha secretariat today said the second part of the 14th session of the 14th House of People will begin on October 17.
In a statement, it said the session is likely to conclude on November 21.
With the notification on resumption of the session, the government has effectively rejected the Opposition's demand for early convening of Parliament to discuss the nuclear civil agreement with the United States.
The session will be continuation of the special session held on July 21-22 during which the Congress-led coalition government won the vote of confidence in the Lok Sabha after four Left parties had withdrawn their support on the issue of Indo-US nuke deal.
The deal has since passed the hurdle tests at International Atomic Energy Agency and Nuclear Suppliers Group. It has yet to cross the last hurdle in the US Congress which has to ratify it by up-down vote without debate.
Speaker Somnath Chatterjee had adjourned sine die the July 21-22 special session. It was not prorogued and hence the October 17-November 21 session is the continuation of the previous one.
