Chandigarh, Sep 8 (UNI) Haryana Governor Dr. A.R. Kidwai today called upon the Haryana State Bharat Scouts and Guides Association to launch a special drive to remove illiteracy and check the increasing rate of drop out in the schools.
While speaking at the 34th Annual General Meeting of the State Council of Haryana State Bharat Scouts and Guides Association held here to honour outstanding performers, the Governor said that Haryana scouts and guides services had been recognized at the national level and the State Association was awarded 9 out of 10 awards for its excellent performance.
Dr Kidwai gave away 13 shields to District Associations, 188 medals and badges to Scouts, Guides, Scout Masters, Guide Captains, District Education Officers, District Elementary Education Officers and well wishers of the Association for their outstanding performance and contribution in the field of scouting.
The districts Kurukshetra, Bhiwani and Karnal and Rohtak got 1st, 2nd and 3rd position in the Scout Section respectively. In the Guide Section districts Bhiwani, Sonepat and Rohtak got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In Cub Section districts Kaithal, Gurgaon and Rohtak and in the Bulbul Section districts Rohtak, Sonepat and Gurgaon got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively for their excellent contribution in their respective fields.
