Jalandhar, Sep 8 (UNI) District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum today ordered telecom service provider Vodafone to pay a compensation of Rs 4000 to a complainant for ''gross negligence and deficiency in their services''.

A local resident, Ish Sharma, has approached the Forum contending that despite having paid the bills after converting his Prepaid phone connection into post-paid on company official's assuarance of providing better facilities, his outgoing calls had been disabled.

The complainant also alleged that despite registering complaints through customer care many times, his problem was not solved.

Consumer Forum President M M Bhalla and member Surinder Mittal, after listening to both the parties, concluded that the company had offered negligent service to the complainant as the bill deposited by the customer was mistakenly credited in the other customer account.

Noting that the discontinuation of the outgoing call service of the complainant was not justified, the Forum ordered the company to pay Rs 2000 as compensation and another Rs 2000 as litigation fees to the complainant.
