Dasmunsi welcomes decision on Singur
New Delhi, Sep 8 (UNI) Information and Broadcasting Minister and West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee (WBPCC) president Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi has expressed satisfaction over the resolution of Singur the Tata Motor project impasse through dialogue.
The WBPCC in a statement issued here today has said the Congress has been from the very beginning asking for land for land and a comprehensive rehabilitation.
The Governor reached a solution after involving the state government and the agitators. "We are happy for it. After all we desire that industrialisation should not be discouraged at any point but at the same time the interest of farmers should be protected morally and legally. If the West Bengal Government would have been serious enough to understand the interest of the farmers, things would have been taken in a better direction long back. However, better late than never.'' ''We hope now that the Government of West Bengal shall not undertake any such measures like Singur in any part of Bengal without a comprehensive package and with due consent of all parties that will not undermine the interest of the farmers,'' he said.
"We thank the Governor for his initiative though he did not involve other political parties. But the Congress is happy that farmers' interest has been protected through dialouge," Mr Dasmunsi added.
