Cong, CPI(M) demand judicial probe into Azamgarh incident

Lucknow, Sep 8 (UNI) Uttar Pradesh Congress and Communist Party of India (Marxist) today condemned the Azamgarh incident and demanded judicial probe into the matter.

Uttar Pradesh former chief minister and senior Congress leader Ram Naresh Yadav said the communal forces are becoming active with the approaching Lok Sabha polls.

The political parties were dividing people on the lines of caste and creed for their personal gains he said and demanded judicial probe into the matter.

He further demanded an exgratia of Rs 5 Lakh for the deceased and Rs one lakh each for those who sustained injuries in the violence.

Demanding judicial inquiry into the incident, the CPI (M) condemned the incident and said the incident was the result of laxity committed by the district administration.

The CPI(M) said had the DM disallowed the procession at the sensitive area the incident could have be averted.

Demanding stringent punishment to the accused, the party said proper compensation should be given to the victims of the incident.

Yesterday, tension broke out at Azamgarh town following brickbatting by an irked mob on the vehicles of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath in Takia locality, where one person was killed and three sustained grievously injuries.
