Case lodged against fake certificates in Karnataka

Madikeri (Karnataka) Sep 8: Thousands of caste certificates are being produced at Somwarpet to win elections, and hold high posts by using false certificates. A study of records in the revenue department and complaints lodged revealed that hundreds of deserving candidates have lost their chance of winning and occupying covted posts due to the malpractice by the Revenue department and borkers.

Mr K J Dundappa from a Scheduled Caste contested for the VSSBN directors post this March, but lost against another Reserve candidate. The investigations revealed that the rival candidate had produced a fake certificate claiming himself belonging to Nayaka sub caste.

He had acquired the certificate in 2005 from Somwarpet. Mr Dundappa has filed a case and a complaint. In another incident a political party has appointed one person as the President for its Sc/St cell. In another intriguing incident, two persons had enjoyed the posts of President and Vice President of Taluk Panchayath, Somwarpet.

A thorough investigation will throw light on hundreds of such incidents at Somwarpet taluk and the District administration has to consider the issue seriously, the study said.
