Assam CPI opposes private parties in oil fields
Guwahati, Sep 8 (UNI) The Assam unit of the CPI today protested the proposal for handing over of oil fields in the state to private parties.
'' The CPI strongly opposes it as we feel it will be detrimental to the interests of the state, '' CPI Legislators Pramode Gogoi and Dhrupad Borgohain said here. The ONGC and OIL had initiated process to hand over some of their oil fields in the state to private parties for application of improved or enhanced oil recovery techinque.
The Ambani brothers of the Reliance empire are reported to be interested in investing in the area.
The CPI leaders appealed to the people to start a mass movement to defeat the policies of the Union government.
