5 PGVCL members injured in mob attack in Rajkot dist
Rajkot, Sep 8 (UNI) Five members of Paschim Gujarat Vij Company Limited (PGVCL), including the Junior Executive Engineer, were injured when a mob of at least 50 villagers attacked them as they were busy in checking power connections of the farms at Khanderi village in Padadhari Taluka of the district, today.
All the injured were removed to Rajkot Civil Hospital, official sources said.
Seven teams of the PGVCL went to Khanderi village this morning along with police and began their duty to check the power connections in the farms, when nearly 50 villagers assembled there and started pelting stones heavily at them, resulting in injuries to five members including Junior Executive Engineer N S Padaliya,the sources said.
The mob also heavily damaged the six vehicles of the PGVCL, official sources said.
After the incident, the squad left the place immediately, the sources said.
The other four persons injured in the attack were identified as Driver Prafulbhai Parmar (35), another driver Anilbhai Agravat (36), Videographer Sureshbhai Tank (36) and Police commando Vijaybhai Zala (38), the sources said.
