Hyderabad, Sep 7: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today urged Union Minister for Human Resources Development Arjun Singh to consider sanctioning a campus of Indian School of Mines (ISM) University in the State.
In a letter to the Minister, a copy of which was released to the press here, Dr Reddy said, ''I have received the copy of the letter addressed to the Government of India from ISM University, Dhanbad readily agreeing to establish ISM Campus in Andhra Pradesh.
''In this connection, we are very happy and thankful to welcome the ISM University to establish the campus in Khammam District in Andhra Pradesh,'' he added.
The Khammam District had over 120 years of mining history and had abundant natural resources like coal,iron ore, dolomite and limestone.
The district today had mining-based industries like Singareni Collieries and Sponge Iron India Limited.
''In this regard, I would like to mention Khammam District is the suitable location for establishing the campus,'' he said and added 300 acre of government land would be identified and made available for the purpose.
He said infrastructure facilities like electricity and water were readily available. The State Government would extend all facilities for the establishment of the campus.
