Jamshedpur, Sep 7 (UNI) Amid the looming clouds of uncertainty on the proposed India-England ODI encounter here in November, the Tata steel management today categorically said the Keenan stadium was presently unsafe for organising a big sporting event.

Tata steel corporate communications chief Sanjay Choudhary told UNI that the galleries of the stadium needed a good deal of repair to make them safe.

''Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) has written to us for the stadium but of late we have found that the galleries are not safe for a big event. Our engineers are inspecting the site and will take measures to repair them to safety. Unless that is done we cannot risk the lives of spectators by handing it over for the match,'' he said, adding that on all the earlier occasions the stadium was made available for international cricket events.

Meanwhile, JSCA president Amitabh Chaudhary today requested Deputy Commissioner R K Agrawal to talk to the Tata management for early availaibility of the stadium in the best interest of cricket in the state.

Talking to mediapersons after the special general meeting of the JSCA, Mr Chaudhary alleged that the Tata management was not responding positively to their repeated requests.

''It will not be possible for JSCA to organise the match if the stadium is not made available soon,'' he said.

The Deputy Commissioner told UNI that the administration cannot ignore the safety aspects but he would talk to the Tata steel management in a day of two after receiving a written request from JSCA.
