Chennai, Sep 7 (UNI) AIADMK General Secretary J Jayalalithaa has threatened to sue two Tamil weeklies, claiming damages of Rs 10 crore each if they failed to tender an apology for publishing ''defamatory'' articles against her.
Ms Jayalalithaa sent legal notices to 'Kumudham' Tamil weekly for carrying a story that she wanted to join the DMK soon after the death of AIADMK founder M G Ramachandran and to 'Junior Vikatan' for an article that she was influenced by her friend Sasikala in the process of party organisational elections.
Stating that the articles published by the two weeklies were per se highly defamatory, Ms Jayalalithaa called upon them to tender an unconditional apology and publish the same in the weeklies.
Failing which, she would be constrained to initiate necessary civil and criminal action, apart from claiming damages to the tune of Rs 10 crore from each for the loss of her reputation, mental agony and pain.
