AP Govt initiates steps for supply of fertilizers
Hyderabad, Sep 7: Andhra Pradesh Finance Minister K Rosaiah today said the State Government had initiated steps to ensure adequate supply of fertilisers to all districts.
Talking to newspersons along with Commercial Taxes Minister K Ramakrishna here, he said the Centre had released an additional quantity of fertilisers than the other States following the steps taken by the Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy.
Admitting lapses due to rain and sudden rise in demand, Mr Rosaiah assured the farmers that the Government had provided adequate supply to them.
The Minister said the farmers resorted to agitations recently as the opposition gave false information on the availability of fertilzers in some areas.
He said Government had also taken steps to provide adequate stocks for the Rabi season.
Regarding action against black marketeers and hoarders, he said 13,127 qunitals of seed worth Rs 79.4 crore were seized by the enforcement department and 7817 tonnes of fertilizer worth Rs.5.6 crore seized by the officials. The offenders were arrested, he added.
