Adityanath says ''it was a terror attack''
Lucknow, Sep 7 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Yogi Adityanath has termed today's attack upon him a ''terrorist bid.'' Mr Adityanath, while talking to UNI over telephone late this evening, claimed that the attack was done from a religious place situated in Takiya area.
The MP said it was a pre-planned move done by anti-national elements. ''I want immediate action against the guilty and also a check on the activities of this religious spot,'' he demanded.
Mr Adityanath further charged the Azamgarh district administration with conducting laxity in his security, even as he had apprised about the schedule of his visit on time.
''Azamgarh has turned into a centre of anti-national activities, who are also being sheltered by some politicians,'' the BJP MP alleged.
Mr Adityanath said a bandh has been called in Poorvanchal tomorrow, which would, however, be peaceful.
Meanwhile, BJP workers staged demonstration outside Vidhan Sabha later this evening and burnt ''terrorism in effigy.'' The protestors also chanted stentorian anti-state government slogans.
