50-yr-old among 6 injured by bear in Poonch
Jammu, Sep 7 (UNI) A 50-year-old was among six people injured in an attack by a bear in the forest area of tehsil Mandi in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, police sources here today said.
''The villagers were busy working in their fields when a wild bear, who came down in the populated area from the nearby forest, attacked one of the villagers, Ghulam Mohd, and seriously injured him in the Loran village of Mandi area last evening,'' the sources told UNI, and added that the bear also attacked other villagers and wounded them.
''The villagers, however, pelted the animal with stones and the bear escaped from the spot, while the condition of critically injured Ghulam Mohd, 50, was stated to be serious,'' they said.
Other injured were identified as Mohd Ashraf, Bashir Ahmed, Mohd Sultan, Abdul Majid and Ghulam Mohd, all residents of Loran.
