Windstorm claims two lives, disrupts life in Ambala
Ambala, Sep 6 (UNI) A powerful tornado claimed two lives and injured two others besides disrupting water and power supply and damaging properties in the district.
Two men identified as Sukh Ram Bahrdwaj and Balia, both migratory labourers from Bihar were buried under uprooted trees at Ambala City and Shaehzadpur during the windstorm yesterday night.
A large number of trees were uprooted which disrupted traffic on the national highways. The rail traffic on Ambala-Ludhiana railway line was also affected as a high tension powerline of railways was snapped following which a number of trains came to a stand still for about an hour.
Electricity feeder lines in the district were extensively damaged following which the power supply remained blocked for about 20 hours.
Meanwhile, one person was injured in a house collapse at Mochi Mandi the Cantonment area and another, a motorcyclist, at Ambala City.
