Villagers set on fire two houses of a family

Kolhapur, Sep 6 (UNI) Tension prevailed at village Belawale-Khurd in Kagal tehsil of the district today after an irate mob set on fire two houses of one Kundalik Pawar family over the mysterious death of their 26-year-old daughter-in-law.

The woman was identified as Dipalee Yuvaraj Pawar.

On August 28, Dipalee's in-laws Laxmi and Kundalik Pawar and her husband Yuvraj, a military serviceman, set afire Dipalee over her behaviour and rushed to Pune for medical treatment. They told everyone that she attempted to commit susicide, police sources said.

Dipalee succumbed to burn injuries last night. The family members brought her body back to the village early this morning and performed last rites on her.

However, villagers became suspicious of Dipalee death and held the Pawars responsible for it and set on fire their houses in protest against the ferocious atrocity against her.

The villagers also beat up Laxmi, while Kundalik and their another son disappeared from the village, sources said, adding, Yuvaraj is in military hospital at Pune.
