Puri seer blames political leaders for minority appeasement policy

Puri, Sep 6 (UNI) Puri Sannkaracharaya Jagat guru Swamy Nischalananda Saraswati has flayed the successive political leaders since post independence period for their faulty policy in appeasing the minority community while neglecting the Hindus.

Such a policy of minority appeasement has posed a major threat to the Hindus in their own land,the Puri seer said yesterday while presiding the condolence meeting (shradhhanjali) of slain swamy Lakshmanananda Saraswati in a gathering of muhantas and religious heads of various sects in his Gobardhan peeth.

The Sankaracharaya said Jesus Christ during his ten year stay in India had spent three years in Puri learning the tenets of yoga and religious scriptures which taught him peace, tolerance and mokshaa.

But it was strange that his present day disciples were bent upon eliminating Hinduism, the seer said, adding no true religion preaches violence.

Unfortunately Christian radicals have started attacking the Hindus, he said, and blamed the leaders of the country who welcomed and even patronized the missionaries to operate in the country.

The political leadership of the country was now in a piquant situation. Neither the political leaders were able to stop killing of innocent Hindu seers nor able to oust anti Hindu elements working in the country.

The Puri seer predicted more difficult time ahead for the leaders in the near future and called upon the Hindus to resist the anti Hindu forces and advised them to practice the principles of the religion in letter and spirit.

He insisted the gurus and preachers to introspect their work and rededicate themselves for the cause of Hinduism. The Puri seer said the decline in the values of most of the faiths in many countries in the world were languishing under terrorist rule and only true believers of the faith could save our religion, he remarked.

Describing Lakshmanananda Saraswati as a champion of the Hindu faith who laid his life for the cause, the seer said others should learn from his work.

Recounting his association with the slain Swamy, Puri King Gajapati Divyasingh Dev said he was an erudite scholar on religion and had dedicated his entire life to uplift the populace of Kondhmal area in all respect.

The Swamiji, the Gajapati Maharaj said stood like a wall in the way of unscrupulous people who wanted to convert the poor innocent Hindus into Christianity.

Unfortunately he was alone in the field and was eliminated, Mr Dibya Singh Dev said and urged the gurus to work concertedly for the cause of the religion.

Swamy Sankarananda of Kriyayoga Ashram asked the gathering to chalk out a plan to help the people in distress in Kandhamal following continuance of curfew and to observe the last ceremony of the departed saint.

Pramod Acharya the secretary of the district VHP, Baldev Simhari a senior Jagannath temple servitor and Mahantas of various sects and mutts had offered rich tribute to the late Swamiji in the meeting.
