Bhubaneswar, Sep 6 (UNI) Prohibitory orders under Section 144 Cr PC were imposed here today to prevent sadhus from across the state to take out a rally and organise a ''Sradhanjali Sabha'' in memory of slain Swami Laxmananada Saraswati.

The ''Sradhanjali Sabha'', organised by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, is scheduled to be held inside the Freedom Fighters Ground in the afternoon.

Police had already clamped prohibitory orders around the Freedom Fighters Ground and deployed adequate force to prevent further breach of law in view of the congregation of hundreds of sadhus to pay their tribute to the slain Swami, who along with four of his disciples were gunned down by armed assailants inside the Jalaspeta Ashran in Kandhmal district on the night of August 23 last.

Sources said all the routes in the city leading to the venue of the sabha would be restricted under the prohibitory orders and strict direction had been issued not to allow any rally on these routes.

VHP sources said though a rally was proposed to be taken out from the Ram Mandir to the Freedom Fighter's Ground by the sadhus but the idea was dropped at the last moment following imposition of Section 144 Cr PC.

Instead, the sadhus had been asked to congregate at the venue to participate in the sabha, which, sources said, is likely to be delayed by a few hours.

Already sadhus from coastal Orissa had arrived at the Freedom Fighter's Ground and the sabha would be held as scheduled, the sources said.
