Bangalore, Sep 6(UNI) Defending Champion Pankaj Advani and ace cueist Geet Sethi were too good for the opponents when they notched their first wins in the pool matches of the ONGC IBSF World Billiards Championship (Time Format) played at the Karnataka State Billiards Association Hall here today.
Pankaj, fresh from his impressive title win in the (Points Format) beating Geet yesterday, maintained his tempo to trounce his compatriot Prem Prakash 1735-703.
The 23-year-old Bangalore lad had the best break of 307 in his fourth visit and his second highest was a 255 in the 37th visit.
Prem also played well within his limits and had a break 86.
Former Asian Champion Devendra Joshi had easy outing as he crushed Darren Taylor 1477-332 of New Zealand. The stupendous 426 points break he had in the 10th visit sealed the fate of the match.
Veteran Arvind Savur also won edging pst Wayne Carey of New Zealand 823-623.
Earlier in the morning, Geet did not let yesterday's setback to affect his sojourn in his favourite format as he decimated Aidan Murray of Ireland 1939-167.
Firing with aplomb from the start, Geet gave no room for the Irish to make any mark. The Gujarat veteran piled up a break of 885 in his 4th visit stamping his class in the time format of which he is a master. He also had another break of 425 in the ninth and the selected spectators had their fill from the master's artistry.
